Established in 2003, Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH) is situated in the vicinity of Chromepet in southern Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The college’s parent institution is Bharat University which is known by the other name as Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, BIHER, and it is in the list of university which has been approved by the University Grants Commission, UGC.

Courses Offered

There are several courses in SBMCH which range from undergraduate to postgraduate level courses among the fields of medicine and surgery:

Undergraduate Courses: MBBS and Bsc. in allied health sciences.

Postgraduate Courses: MD and MS in more than twenty-five departments.

Undergraduate Programs

MBBS: Offers a program for duration of four and a half years plus an additional year of internship. Minimum requirement includes achieving the certificate level education within the structures of the school system and acquiring language certificates in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology totaling to 50% of all the grades. Entry is merit based and dependent on the scores obtained in NEET exam.

Bsc. in Allied Health Sciences: This course takes a total of four years on its second phase including internship which accounts for one year and requires O levels. Students need to have completed A levels in biology in order to qualify to apply for the course.

Postgraduate Programs

MD/MS: Takes a period of 3 years to complete. The minimum requirement includes holding an MBBS certificate award that has its recognition consistent to the established standards.
